Winger Eljero Elia started his career on professional level at ADO Den Haag in his home town area. In 2007 he left his club and moved to FC Twente in the Eredivisie. Two successful seasons made his qualities also known on international level and he won his first cap for the Dutch national team on A-level. In July 2009 he earned himself a transfer abroad. Elia has signed a 5-year contract at the German club Hamburger SV. The transferfee was around the 9ME.

Just before the closing of the 2011 summer transfer window, Eljero Elia left Germany and signed a 4-year contract at Italian giants Juventus until 2015. Juventus paid the same fee as HSV did in 2009.

His first season was disappointing playing just four competition matches. In July 2012 he decided to quit the club and he signed a 4-year contract at German club Werder Bremen until 2016. The transfer fee was around the 6.5 ME.

In the second half of the 2014-15 season, Elia went on loan to Southampton, club of Dutch coaches Koeman. In summer 2015 he returned to Bremen for his final contract year. After weeks of uncertainty he was able to cancel his lasting contract and managed a move home. Elia signed a 2-year contract at Feyenoord Rotterdam. His contract expired in June 2017 and after winning the Dutch League he signed for another experience abroad. Elia moved to Turkish club Medipol Basaksehir on a 2-year deal.
