|Mario Been played from 1988 to november 1990 for Italian club Pisa. 1992-1993 was another foreign season for Been, playing in the Austrian league for Wacker Innsbruck. The midfielder played once for the Dutch national A team featuring in the 1984 WC qualification match against Austria while he was playing at Feyenoord.
Mario Been retired from professional football in 1996 and started his coaching career. First at his former clubs Excelsior and Feyenoord. For three seasons he was the head coach of NEC Nijmegen before returning to Rotterdam as head coach of Feyenoord 2009. After two seasons he moved to Belgium to coach KRC Genk. With several success in his first seasons, he was fired in February 2014.
